Fratricide is my Senior Thesis. It is a highly designed 108-page artist’s book that retells the story of Cain and Abel through agricultural history, pseudoscientific journal articles, prose writing, graphite illustrations, and documentary imagery. The book utilizes the story to discuss historical and modern issues involving land and agriculture. The text and design intentionally obfuscate then slowly reveal the narrative as it progresses from the dawn of agriculture and animal domestication to the poisoning of the land after significant violence—the fratricide.

Fratricide won Best Editorial Design at the Graphic Arts Annual in 2024. A copy of Fratricide is available for view at the SMFA Library. See more, including the layouts, here.

American Made is a six color Risograph-printed 84-page artist book which appropriates the format of a cookbook, using playful drawn imagery, color-separated photographs and scans, and text to illustrate ten recipes that all involve corn. As the book progresses, the recipes become less cogent and tangible, evolving into unhealthy or even inedible substances that Americans produce using enormous quantities of corn yearly. See more and read the book here.

Outbreak on the Menu is a 141-page graphic novel inspired by true stories about food safety. It was great to work on this project with professors and food safety experts Dr. Gabriela Steier and Dr. Darin Detwiler. I also got the wonderful opportunity to collaborate with my friend Maggie Brosnan. The book is available for purchase as an ebook here.

Groceries is a 12-page Risograph printed comics zine about my relationship to finding and purchasing groceries each week as a student at Tufts, struggling with the lack of accessible grocery stores and the prominence of online systems. It was shown at the SMFA Graphic Arts Area table at the Boston Art Book Fair 2022, and won honorable mention at the SMFA Graphic Arts Annual 2023.

Implicitly, the zine discusses the failures of our society, higher education, and food systems. Click here to read it.
